The device is known as a rocket mass hot water heater and they can be made very cheap as you can see in the video. The only cost was about 50$ worth of copper pipe. The sand and clay mixture was about 50% clay/mud and 50 sand, for most of the build. Some people also call these things rocket stoves. One thing’s for sure, this primitive technology is a cheap and effective way to get off grid hot water for free. The ancient knowledge we are taking advantage of in this case is something called thermo siphoning. Some know a similar design known as a cob oven.

This Video shows the build of an Ammo Box heater in combination with a copper coil.It circulates heated water from a near by campfire, wood stove or solar heater into itself. This setup serves 2 main functions. It can be used as an off grid water heater ,also can be used as a offgrid space heater. This is used here to heat a camper. The ammo box will radiate the heat inside the camper making it warm even its freezing cold outside. This setup is great way to bring the heat of the fire inside while keeping the fire itself safely outside.

This video series shows the step by step build of a homemade Band Sawmill from scratch in your backyard.Harvesting and processing the wood that grows on your property is the dream of many homesteaders. The dream can be expensive (around $5k) because you need a sawmill in order to rip the wood and remove the bark.Instead of spending years saving up, you can spend less by building your own saw mill.it’s a tool you’ll use for years to come, and will more than pay for itself the first time you use it. Lumber isn’t cheap, and if you’ve got the natural resources and access to those resources, it makes the most sense to save money, time, and effort by using what you have available.

This video shows the build of a Water Pump From Scrap .Today I dig into our scrap pile to come up with enough parts to build ourselves a gasoline powered water pump. I first start off with an old gear pump I had laying around, then I salvage an old pressure washer base to mount everything on. To power this water pump I use that two horse engine I bought at a yard sale. build everything out of free find junk that would have gone to landfill or scraped, at least these useful parts can now have a new lease on life.

This Video shows the build of a Thermal siphoning rocket stove for an off grid water system. The advantage of the rocket stove is a clean and efficient burn. This system uses 5 metres of 20mm annealed copper pipe, and though I designed the rocket in a J configuration, it worked better as a batch box. There is a vortex generator at the base of the riser and basically I was able to heat 200 litres of cool water straight out of the tap to 67 degrees Celcius / 152.7 F in 1.5 hrs.
